The Reconciliation Run Scholarship for Indigenous
Student-Athletes

We are pleased to announce that, starting this year, the remaining proceeds from the Reconciliation Run will be dedicated to funding the University of Manitoba’s first scholarship for Indigenous student-athletes.

In alignment with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, which include five specific calls focused on sport, we are inspired by the words of former TRC Commissioner Chief Wilton Littlechild: “Sport has the power to bring people together and to get people working together, and that’s what reconciliation is all about.”

Our vision is that the “Reconciliation Run Scholarship for Indigenous Student-Athletes” will support the recruitment of Indigenous athletes to Bison Sports, create opportunities for future generations, and encourage the use of sport as a powerful tool for reconciliation.
